10 tricks to instantly look better in pictures

Not everyone is born as a photogenic model that looks good on every picture. These 10 tricks will help you next time you are posing in front of the camera for a photographer!
1. Use your tongue
Even though it sounds weird for the first time – try to keep your tongue behind the teeth and slightly touching the roof of your mouth while smiling. It helps to avoid the double chin and wide grin since it elongates your neck and your jawline.
2. Avoid direct head-on shots
Know your angle and try to turn your body ¾ towards the camera. Try to tilt your chin either a little bit up or down and don´t look straight at the camera.
3. Hello cheekbones!
Everyone has a different “side”, so try to turn your head to the left and to the right to find out which side is best. It’s commonly said that the good site is the left, because it shows off the cheekbones.
4. Take a deep breath
Before the picture is taken feel relaxed. Take a deep breath, close your eyes and then open your eyes before the shutter clicks.
5. Don´t say cheese
Instead of saying “cheese” rather say “monkey” or “money”. The “e” will make you smile and your eyes crinkle in a more natural way.
6. Posture
Keep your shoulders back and straight, stand tall but stay relaxed at the same time!
7. Try something new
Try other postures and not the normal “hip out and smile posture”. Do whatever comes to your mind and feels natural. Giggle, flip your hair, hold a drink, look somewhere else…
8. Cross your ankles
Try to cross your ankles it will make your hips look narrower and your legs look longer. Also try to stand a little bit on your tiptoes it makes your legs look longer and you appear taller than you are!
9. Position your arms
Don´t forget to put your arms in a fixed position and don´t let them swing around awkwardly. Put the arm closest to the camera on your hip. That posture ensures that the upper arm isn´t pushed against the body making it look flattened.
10. Experiment with styling
Try to avoid that all your pictures look the same. Put on some bolder make-up, change your wardrobe and change the background. You will be surprised how good it looks!
